How have you grown as a performer?
Since last year, I've attended a performing arts camp, spent a month out of the summer working with a singing group, and helped teach little kids the performing arts. Through this, I was able to rethink ideas I had learned through my previous years of experience in the arts and gain a new perspective on performing. This year, I've stepped away from singing and dancing on stage as a different person, and I'm now taking on roles acting as myself and performing, which is a really big step up for me. In the summer, I was cast the lead roll of Natalie in the jukebox musical, All Shook Up, at my performing arts camp. I went through a professional audition setting, and even thought it was absolutely terrifying, my instructors encouraged me to take a chance and to my surprise, I got the lead roll. It gave me a huge boost in my self esteem, and I've since then started my vocal lessons again and am preparing to audition for winter follies to perform a solo.
