Brave New World Social Caste Activity
This is an activity I created based off of the research I had done throughout the internship. I researched in depth how movement, color, speaking, shapes impact a student's learning and brain. I found that movement helps activate the memory centers in their brain as it increases blood and oxygen to the brain, and using simple things such as colors, speaking, the use of shapes, and other visual and auditory cues help to keep them focused on the task at hand. I used my research to create a lesson about the Brave New World caste system, where they were asked to act like different members of the caste based off the colored cards I gave them. They then answered questions in and out of character in order to develop a greater understanding of the value system in both Brave New World and western society.
