The first week of my LINK internship is over! It was a super tiring day for a super busy week. Riding the Friday vibe was challenging today with everyone preparing for exhibition and trying to get all of the work they needed to get done over with.
This week, I learned a lot about patience. I haven't been doing much as the week went on, and I felt very unproductive and slightly useless. Sometimes I'd wander the class as they had work time and help a few students with revisions, questions, and other pressing issues. That was my favorite part; helping to expand their understanding, help them get through any writing blocks. But at the same time, I didn't feel like I was doing much of anything. I'm not sure if I'm doing this whole thing right, as I was just placed into a classroom with students a few years younger than me. It feels homey, but oddly unfamiliar as I try to find my place. I'm balancing two internships at the moment, and a big challenge is trying to keep them separate. I got pretty far in my LINK project, planning an activity I'm going to teach and a lesson I'm going to teach all centered around the book Brave New World. By the middle of the next week, I'm planning on being mostly or completely done with the prep for the lessons so I can teach them the following week.
And time to head in to the weekend!
